On Saturday, March 5, 2022 we will be holding our County Convention. We will be organizing our voting precincts and then vote on Party Leadership.

All Democrats who are registered voters in Greenwood County are invited to attend from 10 am – 12 pm at

Electing Party Officers

The following positions are up for election at the Convention:

Party chairs

will serve a one-year-term through 2023, and then for two-year terms elected on odd-numbered years. These members are responsible for the operations and success of the Greenwood County Democratic Party

State Executive Committee members

will serve a two-year-term through 2024, with elections held on even-numbered years. These members represent Greenwood County at the State Party level and have voting privileges for any rule changes, disputes, and resolutions.

If you are interested in running for any of these offices, please make sure you read a full description of each position’s responsibilities. It doesn’t matter if there’s already a name under the Candidate column above – if you feel you can make a strong case for a position, we encourage you to run as well. That’s what Democracy is all about!

Note: If you announce for a position, you must be in attendance at the Convention in order to qualify for the ballot.

It is vital to the success of our Party, and for the candidates that we support, to ensure that all positions are filled with dedicated individuals!

Precinct Organization

There are 50 Voting Precincts in Greenwood County. The Convention offers an an opportunity for us to come together at a very local level, get to know fellow Democrats in your Precinct, and learn how we can help our Democratic candidates succeed in the neighborhoods where you live!

Agenda

Precinct Organization: 10 am – 11 am
Socialize & mingle. Enjoy some food! Learn about your precinct. Connect with other Democrats in your area. Learn about the Greenwood County Democratic Party!

Convention & voting: 11 am – 12 pm
We are all seated and conduct the formal affairs of accepting resolutions and voting on officers for election.

Safety Protocols

Per South Carolina Democratic Party guidance, the following protocols will be in place for the Convention:

All attendees must:

  • Wear well-fitted masks appropriately over the nose and mouth, even while speaking;
  • Socially distance to the extent possible; and
  • Provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours;

All County Parties will follow the current and up-to-date CDC guidelines. So please come prepared!
