Summary

While the term actually has a long history, the “Green New Deal” refers primarily to the push after the 2018 election to develop Congressional legislation that ambitiously attempts to address climate change and economic inequality through a set of economic policies.

To date, only non-binding resolutions have been submitted to the House and Senate. You can read the full text of the House Resolution submitted by Congresswoman Ocasio-Ortez.

The “Green New Deal” It has often been utilized as a “fear phrase” with criticisms attacking points that are not found in the resolution.
