OUR SPEAKERS

Brandon Upson is the Chair of the SCDP Black Caucus. He is also the founder of Amplify Action, a nonprofit organization focused on rebuilding power within marginalized communities through the voter registration and civic mobilization of Black men. In 2020, the organization registered 39,080 Black men and mobilized 450,000+ Black voters to get out and vote!

Brandon is an eighth-generation South Carolina native, reared in Aiken SC. He is a US Army Combat Veteran, father of three, and one of the most energetic speakers in SC!


Timicia Grant is the Co-Chair of the SCDP Single Parent’s Caucus. In the past five years, she’s been extremely active in the political world having worked on campaigns for Kamala Harris, Jaime Harrison, and Jon Ossoff! Timicia serves on multiple boards including being the 2nd Vice President of the Democratic Women of Greenville County.

You have to hear her gripping story of activism on behalf of single parents in South Carolina!


Andrea White is the new Executive Director of the Foodbank of Greenwood. A native of the Promised Land community, she has worked in the GWD50 school system for almost 2 decades prior to her current role. She is also the founder and Executive Director of BLOOM (Becoming Leaders of Optimism & Meaning), a leadership development program for girls.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Mental Health, Andrea embodies the best that Greenwood County has to offer! Her story is one you will not want to miss.


Bishop Oliver T. McCray, Jr. is the pastor of the famous Morris Chapel Baptist Church and gives all of his energy to strengthening the community he is called to serve. From helping build bonds between the Greenwood City Police and the city’s citizens to forming an alliance of African-American Greek Sororities and Fraternities called “DIVINE9greenwood”, he is a man places himself in positions to lift and strengthen others.

Never shy to voice his political opinions, especially when it comes to race relations in the US, he will share a bit of his wisdom with us to kick off our meeting.


Bill Kimler is the Chair of the Greenwood County Democratic Party. A technology expert by trade, he was called to enter into the world of politics after the 2016 election.

Bill will share his experience testifying in front of the SC Senate Panel on Redistricting recently and will share his thoughts about gerrymandering in South Carolina.

He will also provide GWCDP updates, announce the Volunteer of the Month for August, and share many ways in which YOU can make a difference as a Greenwood Democrat!


Unfortunately, due to a last-minute scheduling conflict, Greenwood City Councilwoman Patricia Partlow is unable to make our meeting this month. But she looks forward to speaking with us at our next Breakfast Meeting!
