We also heard from an attendee who was devastated by the recent school shooting in Georgia.

President and CEO of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Trentsie Williams, provides a lot of information about the Capital Projects Sales Tax initiative that is on the ballot to be renewed in 2025.

GWCDP Precinct Leader, Allen Moore, talked about his experiences in Chicago at the Democratic National Convention. He shared the inspiration to invest in the County Party and building a movement from the ground up.

1st Vice Chair, Dr. Jumelle Brooks, leads this months Breakfast Meeting. She opened with a welcome message and then provided updates on:

We quickly cover activities the GWCDP has participated in over the last month and share some upcoming activities for volunteers to get involved in.

Members of the audience also shared community events of interest.

Mike Burgess is a teacher for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development at River Bluff High School in Lexington, South Carolina. A lifelong American Revolution historian and resident of South Carolina, Mr. Burgess has received numerous awards for his work including the 2023 South Carolina History Teacher of the Year from the prestigious Gilder Lehrman Foundation.

He spoke with us about current events in the nation and in #SouthCarolina in the context of the Revolutionary War.

His engaging manner and ability to weave a tale made Mike one of the most interesting speakers to grace Greenwood, SC!

Greenwood native, Ishan Lal, spoke with us from the perspective of a university student in Washington DC. He has interned for both Congressman Jim Clyburn and DNC chair, Jaime Harrison.

We had several candidates provide updates and a few who announced publicly for the first time!
