Greenwood County Democratic Party

We quickly cover activities the GWCDP has participated in over the last month and share some upcoming activities for volunteers to get involved in.

Members of the audience also shared community events of interest.

Mike Burgess is a teacher for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development at River Bluff High School in Lexington, South Carolina. A lifelong American Revolution historian and resident of South Carolina, Mr. Burgess has received numerous awards for his work including the 2023 South Carolina History Teacher of the Year from the prestigious Gilder Lehrman Foundation.

He spoke with us about current events in the nation and in #SouthCarolina in the context of the Revolutionary War.

His engaging manner and ability to weave a tale made Mike one of the most interesting speakers to grace Greenwood, SC!

Greenwood native, Ishan Lal, spoke with us from the perspective of a university student in Washington DC. He has interned for both Congressman Jim Clyburn and DNC chair, Jaime Harrison.

We had several candidates provide updates and a few who announced publicly for the first time!

Chair Bill Kimler opens the August Breakfast meeting with some general announcements. Then, after thanking President Biden, we hear from Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee for POTUS, Kamala Harris!

Our Community Care coordinator, Karl Schwarzmann, provides updates on future activities that demonstrate how “Democrats Care!”.

Karl then receives a surprise after he gives his announcements.

Francie provides us with updates about her campaign and the dives into the issues that are important to her and to the voters of Greenwood County.
